September 27, 2020Ready or not, 2017 has begun.
And it has begun without George Michael (53), Carrie Fisher (60) and Prince (58). No one would have predicted this last year.
It’s certainly time to give a little bit of thought to your businesses activities next year.
Bearing in mind that things are likely to get more unpredictable not less in a Trump influenced world. Did you know that millennials (generation Y – people born between 1980 and 1995) have taken over the workforce and are now the largest living group.
This ‘Peter Pan’ generation live with their parents for longer, struggle to find employment, get married late if they marry at all, delay having children, are technologically driven and are the least religious of all the generations.
These people are the most likely to work for you.
These people are the most likely to be your customers.
For these people, instant gratification is not quick enough. Where did the Baby Boomers go?
Other important trends are:
- Cautious borrowing
- More disloyal customers – ‘the word-of- mouse’ dominates along with more on-line buying
- The fight against obesity, searching for a quick fix
- Delaying old age and the blurring of age boundaries
- The chemical backlash – the need for things natural and the boom in health products
- The importance of the feel good factor – money can make you happy
- Increased reliance on digital devices
Things are different and we have to adapt to this world.
Someone once told me:
‘If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there’.
Current statistics show that 40% of projects fail because of a lack of planning. Other planning statistics point to the importance of identifying and managing critical success factors i.e. things you simply cannot afford to get wrong like tyre choice in Formula 1 racing.
Maybe you have already identified what is critical to the success of your business but if you have any anxieties here or you would simply like to chat to someone about where your business is going please get in touch.
We wish you the very best for 2017 – may it be a happy and prosperous year for you.
With warm regards,
